Hatten Hotels Worldwide Adopts Protocols & Support Services Following nCoV Outbreak

January 28th, 2020 : Responding to the present day life-threatening Coronavirus that has hit thousands of victims in China, and gradually spreading around the globe, HHW under the Hatten Cares exertion, has expeditiously magnified its precautionary guidelines and support services with reference to the virus. These has been carried out regardless of the fact that there has been no diagnosed cases within the whole of Hatten and business continues to operate as usual.

Despite the current death rate of the virus being at only 3% and most recent announcements of some infected patients having recovered, the management of HHW is in strong agreement with the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), to stand in support of the SOP’s and precautionary measures set by the government to prevent the spread that is still out there.

Just like many in the industry with the intention of containing the Coronavirus outbreak and lessening the impact that the outbreak may have on travelers, our HHW management has joined in the selfless act of accommodating qualified refunds to previously booked stays from China following the travel ban. Our reservations and front office are well aware and ready to assist in this matter. Hand sanitisers are also made available at all our reservations and front office counters as well.

Beginning January 28th 2020, all HHW associates are screened upon entry at each of our hotels and if any are detected with developing fever, respiratory illness or flu-like symptoms, they will be sent home and advised to seek further medical evaluation and care at any of our panel clinics. Apart from that, posters have been put up around the in-house offices to create awareness among the HHW associates.

In the F&B sections as usual, the crew is under strict instructions and observation to practice maximal sanitising. This includes wearing protective gears such as face masks, hand sanitisers and rubber gloves. Increased frequency has been added to the regular cleaning routines. Kitchen table tops and dining areas are constantly sanitised on a daily basis. Apart from that, guests are welcome and encouraged to make use of the complimentary hand sanitisers provided on the counters of all our F&B outlets.

Guest rooms are sanitised and disinfected upon every checkout to ensure the room is germ-free and comforting for the next guests checking in. Upon entry to their rooms, guests will also find an in-room letter from the hotel management, advising on the general issues of the current Coronavirus epidemic.

Likewise, the gym space and all its equipment, along with all public spaces in the hotels, are sanitised repeatedly. Our hotel housekeeping staff are diligently carrying out their sanitising efforts every hour.

As panic hits the market, Hatten Cares is equally concerned about the Coronavirus spread and has fully committed to strict protocols, close monitoring and protecting the people, under any circumstances. People should know that this is a potentially very serious public health threat, but at this point, the government is taking heavy precautions as to travel restrictions to and from the infected provinces, airport screenings, and quarantines. As we head towards a busy period for business and leisure travel, all of the current experts advice indicates that travel in Malaysia can and should continue as normal.

So here’s to everyone planning to travel – stay calm but be cautious. Below are everyday habits that can help prevent the spread of any viruses, shared by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
